Floral Design

Visitors to this Greenville, Delaware home were often confused by where to enter the property.
“They were always perplexed d about where to pick up or drop off,” says Designer Adrienne Seery. “Packages were lost, no one went to the front door, and there was a lot of poorly used space.” Adrienne understood that in order to solve these challenges, they’d need to address the function of the property and create a new design from there. They decided to reroute the driveway and design the entire front entrance and walkway that led visitors where they needed to go.
Modeling the project off the home styles of Charleston, South Carolina, they built low brick walls with capstones along the front of the property. A circular stone fountain with a cafe seating area offers classic style and curb appeal. The family’s four children needed somewhere to play, so the drive was expanded along the side of the garage. This allowed a safer place to bike and run around that was away from cars entering the property. To complete the intelligent design, the drive was connected with a wet-laid stone walkway that gave guests a clear focal point when they approached the home. Classic southern landscaping that will thrive in a cooler climate was planted throughout the yard. Large trees flank the drive to offer shade for the larger area of pavement. “This project wasn’t just about enhancing the beauty but the functionality of the home as well,” says Adrienne. “We creatively solved a problem that had been troubling the clients since moving into the home. No matter what the initial call is about, as designers, we realize there’s either an issue they’re looking to solve or a feature they’re looking to enhance.”
A Stately Stone Manor

This new construction home in Greenville, Delaware looks like it was carved out of the countryside with a series of projects that won DiSabatino Landscaping an Award of Excellence from the National Association of Landscape Professionals. A covered outdoor living room, three stone fireplaces, winding granite paver and cobblestone driveway complement the stone and brick exterior of the home. Next to the flagstone patio and pavilion is a koi pond with a waterfall, firepit, and hot tub. Each outdoor living area is unique but flows together, with detailed accents to tie them all together. “This home’s outdoor living areas command attention from every angle,” says Designer David Mull. “It’s truly a work of art.” Before any construction work began, DiSabatino’s crew members removed invasive bamboo, installed an extensive underground drainage system and regraded the lawn to protect against any potential water concerns. They planted native landscaping that blooms all year round and works with the naturalistic
setting of the property. The outdoor living room is flanked by a stately Pennsylvania blue granite and brick fireplace that warms the area year-round. The ceiling, which features recessed lighting, fans, sound and heating elements, was built from exposed beams by Amish timberframers.
A commercial-grade outdoor kitchen and serving bar are accentuated with travertine marble flooring. Outside the pavilion, a wet-laid premium bluestone patio and walkways welcome guests.
LED accent lighting was strategically placed around the property to accentuate the features of the home.
Each outdoor living area offers the family privacy and entertaining space. DiSabatino Landscaping utilized crews specializing in landscaping, hardscaping, masonry, construction, and lighting to create this stunning one-of-a-kind stone and brick masterpiece.
