## Why Delaware Valley Homeowners Choose Pronto Pools
Choosing a pool builder is one of the biggest decisions you will make for your property. A backyard pool is a long-term investment in your family's lifestyle, your home's value, and the way you spend time together.
Pronto Pools, the custom pool division of [DiSabatino Inc.](https://disabatinoinc.com/), has been building pools across the Delaware Valley since 1986. Our PHTA-certified team, led by Pool Division Manager Kevin Allgood, specializes in both gunite and fiberglass pool installations for homeowners in Greenville, Wilmington, West Chester, Chadds Ford, and the Main Line communities of Villanova, Bryn Mawr, and Gladwyne.
We are not a subcontractor network. One team manages your pool project from the initial design consultation through the final walkthrough. That integrated approach is why our clients trust us with projects that regularly range from $40,000 for fiberglass installations to $70,000 and above for fully custom gunite builds.

## Gunite Pools vs. Fiberglass Pools: Which Is Right for Your Property?
Two pool construction methods dominate the Delaware Valley market. Both deliver lasting value, but each suits different property types, budgets, and design preferences.
| Feature | Gunite Pools | Fiberglass Pools |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Design Flexibility | Fully custom shapes, depths, and features | Pre-manufactured shell designs |
| Starting Price | Approximately $70,000+ | Starting around $40,000 |
| Installation Timeline | 8-12 weeks typical | 3-5 weeks typical |
| Maintenance | Requires periodic resurfacing | Low maintenance, smooth gel coat |
| Durability | Decades with proper care | 25+ year lifespan |
| Best For | Complex designs, vanishing edges, large properties | Faster installation, budget-conscious builds |
### Gunite Pool Construction
**Gunite pools** give you complete design freedom. Your pool can follow the natural contours of your yard, incorporate built-in spas, tanning ledges, vanishing edges, and water features. For estate properties in Greenville, Gladwyne, or Kennett Square, gunite is the material of choice when the design calls for something truly custom.
Gunite is a mixture of concrete and sand sprayed at high velocity over a steel reinforcement framework. The result is a structurally rigid shell that can be shaped into any configuration your property requires. Our crews have built freeform lagoon-style pools, geometric lap pools, and multi-level designs with integrated spillover spas.
### Fiberglass Pool Installation
**Fiberglass pools** install faster and require less ongoing maintenance. The smooth gel coat surface resists algae growth and will not scrape skin or swimsuits. For homeowners in Hockessin, Middletown, or Garnet Valley looking for a reliable pool without extended construction timelines, fiberglass is a practical choice.
Fiberglass shells arrive pre-manufactured and are set into a professionally excavated and leveled site. Because the shell is produced under factory-controlled conditions, the finish quality is consistent and the installation timeline is significantly shorter than gunite construction.
Our team evaluates your yard conditions, soil type, access constraints, and design goals before recommending the best approach for your specific property.
## How We Build Your Custom Pool
Every Pronto Pools project follows a structured process designed to keep your project on track and on budget.
1. **Free Design Consultation:** We visit your property, discuss your vision, assess soil and grading conditions, and review your budget. You leave with a clear understanding of what is possible for your backyard.
2. **Custom Pool Design:** Our [architectural design team](https://disabatinoinc.com/services/architectural-design) creates detailed plans using state-of-the-art visualization tools. You see exactly what your finished pool and surrounding landscape will look like before any ground is broken.
3. **Permitting and Preparation:** We handle all local permits and HOA approvals required in Delaware, Chester County, and Delaware County, PA. No paperwork surprises for you.
4. **Excavation and Construction:** Our in-house crew completes all structural work. For gunite pools, this includes steel reinforcement, plumbing, and the gunite shell application. Fiberglass pools are set, leveled, and backfilled by the same team.
5. **Finishing and Landscaping:** Because DiSabatino offers [integrated design-build services](https://disabatinoinc.com/services/), we complete pool coping, decking, landscaping, lighting, and water features as one coordinated project. Your outdoor space is finished, not just your pool.
6. **Final Walkthrough and Handoff:** We review every system, walk you through pool maintenance, and confirm you are completely satisfied before we close out the project.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### How much does a custom pool cost in the Delaware Valley?
Custom pool pricing depends on the type of construction, pool size, and features you select. Fiberglass pool installations start around $40,000, while custom gunite pools with full design flexibility typically begin at $70,000 or more. Your free consultation includes a detailed estimate based on your specific property and design goals.
### How long does it take to build a pool?
Fiberglass pool installations generally take 3 to 5 weeks from excavation to completion. Custom gunite pools require 8 to 12 weeks depending on complexity, weather conditions, and permitting timelines. We recommend starting your planning process in winter or early spring to have your pool ready for summer.
### Do I need a permit to build a pool in Delaware or Pennsylvania?
Yes. Pool construction requires permits in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. Requirements vary by municipality and county. Our team handles all permitting paperwork, inspections, and HOA submissions as part of your project, so you do not need to navigate the process on your own.
### What is the difference between gunite and fiberglass pools?
Gunite pools are built on-site using a mixture of concrete and sand sprayed over a steel reinforcement framework, allowing completely custom shapes and features. Fiberglass pools are pre-manufactured shells installed into an excavated hole. Gunite offers more design flexibility; fiberglass offers faster installation and lower maintenance. Both are excellent long-term investments for Delaware Valley homeowners.
### Can you integrate landscaping and pool construction into one project?
Yes. DiSabatino Inc. operates six specialized divisions, including pool construction, landscaping, hardscaping, masonry, and lighting. One project manager coordinates everything, so your pool, patio, plantings, and lighting are designed and built together as a unified outdoor living space.
### What areas do you serve for pool construction?
Pronto Pools serves the Delaware Valley tri-state region, including New Castle County, Delaware (Greenville, Wilmington, Hockessin, Middletown), Delaware and Chester Counties in Pennsylvania (West Chester, Kennett Square, Chadds Ford, Glen Mills), and the Main Line (Villanova, Bryn Mawr, Wayne, Gladwyne, Devon).
